Internship in School Media at Eastern Middle School

This blog reflects on issues raised and new observations based on my internship at Eastern Middle School in Riverside, Connecticut where I spend at least two days a week learning about the real world of school media!

When the Server is Down, Everything is!

When the two media specialists were out for the day on for a workshop, the network was also down. The snowy weather may have contributed to it. This was a problem at more than our school. Other schools did not have computer and telephone access. This is something to reflect on and consider.
The network problem and this is something worth noting how important it would be for a school to allow access to computer application programs without connecting to the server.

That same day, another issue was brought to my attention for future reflection. Hiring a substitute that has technology knowledge so that students can have someone that understands in case they need assistance was a valuable learning lesson.

One of the problems with the blog, is you are not reflecting enough.. The last posting was January 30th -- and even though there was a week off in February, you had other events and experiences worthy of reflection. If you have questions for me or just want to have a conversation around an idea, just e-mail me and we can more easily communicate quickly that way. Give your post a title -- This one might be "TRAPPED" or "Down for the Count" or How can LMSs survive without the Network? or.....
I need to set a day for visiting... I'll take a personal day that day....

Bill,

I will reflect more now as I know that is something you are looking for. I have been reflecting throughout my documentation for the final portfolio as you may have seen in the attachments I sent over email. Thanks for letting me know what you are looking for.

I also just made the move to the updated blogger account via Google. I was using the "old blogger" so that is why this blog did not have a title. I am still getting the gist of the new format.

I have been posting in just different ways. I have been upkeeping the Spreadsheet where I have been reflecting on my accomplishments of the day. I tried the StagWeb method which has been made clear that we should not continue using. Let me know what day of the week would work best for you. I can be pretty flexible.

Mary,
I could use the StagWeb if you prefer it. I could adapt and see why you prefer it. Let me know.

No, I actually like blogger better than StagWeb's format. There are too many breadcrums to go through before I get to the loaf in StagWeb!

And StagWeb is notorious for timing out and down time. I actually got so upset once, when I was writing you an email that kept on logging out that I contacted SunGuard. My complaint was not recognized!
